Eye protection devices must be properly maintained:
Eye protection devices must be properly maintained. Safety glasses will
not
withstand repeated impact or abuse. Therefore, you must inspect them on
a
regular basis for scratches, cracks or other wear and replace them if
they
are scratched, bent or uncomfortable. Scratched and dirty eyeglasses
reduce
vision, cause glare and may contribute to accidents. Scratched lenses
can
also weaken the structure of the lens and its resistance to impact.
Safety glasses should be cleaned daily:
Wipe with a dry clean soft cloth
Clean with mild soap or mild detergent and water
Pat dry with clean lint free cloth
Disinfect with the following (which will not affect coatings):
General disinfectant
UV light germicide chamber
Place at 100 degrees C for one hour
Replace scratched, pitted, broken, bent or ill-fitting glasses. Damaged
glasses interfere with vision and do not provide protection. Replace
damaged
parts only with identical parts from the original manufacturer to ensure
safety and proper fit. Proper maintenance of safety glasses will help to
ensure that last for a long time and protect your eyes well.
