Safe Safety Glasses

Types of safety glasses and goggles:

Types of safety glasses and goggles include (with or without side shields):

  • Goggles for chemical splash
  • Goggles for dust or materials such as flying pieces of metal or other solid
    objects
  • Face shields (worn with goggles to prevent chemicals or solid particles from
    getting into the eyes)

Goggles are also useful when hazards come from above and below as well as
the side, such as in lathe work and other high speed cutting and shaping
operations.

Goggles for splash or fine dust protection should have indirect venting.
Direct venting goggles should be used for less fogging when working with
large particles.

Goggles are usually made with wide contact between the goggle and the face
to provide for a comfortable fit.

The goggle strap should be adjustable. Food and chemical industries require
a strap that does not absorb bacteria or chemicals.
